After enjoying a few days off with friends and family for the Christmas holiday, the McPherson College men's and women's basketball teams are back in action this week. After a couple of COVID-19 interruption at the end of the fall, the Bulldog men were able to get nine games in the books going 5-4 overall, and 3-4 in KCAC play.
The men will kick things off first in 2021 going on the road tonight at 7:00 pm for an intra-county match up with the Bethany College Swedes. This will be the first match-up between the Bulldogs and Swedes this season, as their original date was postponed due to COVID-19. The Swedes come into tonight's contest with a 3-5 mark overall, and 2-4 record in KCAC games.
The Bulldog women were able to play ten games in the 2020 portion of their schedule. They finished those ten games going 7-3 overall, and 4-3 in the conference. They will open up 2021 on Wednesday, travelling to Friends University for a 6:00 pm tip-off. The Friends University Falcons are currently 4-7 overall, but just 2-6 in KCAC play.
While the women are down in Wichita on Wednesday playing the Falcons, the Bulldog men will be back on the hardwood, this time in the friendly confines of the Sport Center, taking on the Tabor College Bluejays at 7:00 pm. Tabor shut down their fall season pretty early on, playing only five games, three of them in conference. They are currently 3-2 overall, and 1-2 in the conference.
On Saturday, the Bulldog women will make their 2021 home debut, hosting the Sterling College Warriors at 3:00 pm at the Sport Center. At this point in the season, Sterling is the team to beat in the KCAC on the women's side. They finished 2020 with a perfect 16-0 record overall, and a 12-0 mark in KCAC games.
