York, Neb. – The McPherson College women's soccer team got back on track with an important win on the road Saturday against the York College Panthers 4-2.

The Bulldogs came into the contest on Saturday having dropped their last three games, all by one score. In two of those three games, the Bulldogs held the lead at some point in the game, but were unable to hang on. Against York they would have the opportunity to face the same challenge, and this time overcome it.

Emma Singleton was on fire for the Bulldogs against the Panthers, scoring all four of the teams' goals. Her first came in the opening half, 17 minutes in off an assist from Vannesa Cisneros. The Bulldog lead didn't last long. Less than two minutes later, the Panthers hit the equalizer to tie the game at one. Unlike their last three games, this time the Bulldogs responded confidently. Less than a minute later, Singleton found the back of the net again, this time on a corner kick service from Ally Holloway.

Just before the half, the Panthers struck again, tying the game at two in the 35th minute. The Bulldogs remained poised and confident coming out of the break. They were solid defensively and offensively they continued to create scoring chances. Ten minutes into the half, Singleton recorded a hat trick scoring on a set piece on a free kick from Caitlin Buendia. That goal would turn out being the game winner as the Bulldog defense would not concede another goal, but just for good measure Singleton would add another goal, this one on another corner kick from Holloway in the 71st minute.

Lauren Kunda picked up the win in goal for the Bulldogs. She faced six shots on goal from the Panthers, turning away four of them.

"I'm very proud of these ladies today," said Bulldog head coach Mark Olson. "They worked hard and were able to create many quality chances today on goal. The team did a great job staying positive and playing to the very end, bouncing back after Wednesday's disappointing result. This team has the capability to score a lot of goals and today we put it together. Congratulations to Emma for having a special day with the first hat trick of the year."

With the win, the Bulldogs are now 3-3 overall on the year, and 2-3 in KCAC play. They will be back on the pitch on Wednesday, hosting the Bethel College Threshers at 5:00 pm at Paul Family Field.
