McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College men's soccer team picked up another key KCAC win on Wednesday evening, outlasting the Bethel College Threshers 2-1 in double overtime in front of the home faithful at Paul Family field.

The Bulldogs dominated the time of possession, and nearly doubled up the Threshers in total shots 30-16. The put nine shots on goal compared to just four for Bethel, but still needed double overtime to secure the result.

In the 38th minute, the Bulldogs broke the scoreless tie, on a corner kick. Nipho Methula served the ball into the box where Lucas Williams-Fernandez was there waiting to hammer the ball into the back of the net. The Bulldogs went into the break, up 1-0.

Less than five minutes into the second frame, the Threshers found the equalizer. BC's Juan Nicoletti showed off his dribbling skills, beating two Bulldog defenders inside the 18 yard box then going low to beat goal keeper Colby Swift to the far post. The game would remain tied for the rest of regulation and then through the first 10 minutes of overtime.

Four minutes into the final overtime session, the Bulldogs were awarded another corner kick. From the near side of the field, Antoine Detavernier played an inswinger into the box with his left foot. Marcus Fernandes checked back to the six yard box from the far post, timed his jump perfectly, and headed the ball down and into the near post corner for the game winner.

"We had a lot of positive moments tonight," said Bulldog head coach Doug Quint. "Defensively we were solid for much of the match. We created a lot of quality chances to score in possession and forced their goal-keeper to make some outstanding saves. Finally, we were really on point tonight with our set pieces. Scored two goals off our corner kicks and had a direct free-kick hit the bar. Overall I am very proud of the boys tonight. That was a quality side we beat."

With the win, the Bulldogs move to 8-3 overall, and 5-1 in KCAC play. They will look to extend their winning streak to five games, when they go on the road Saturday to take on the Bethany College Swedes. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 pm in Lindsborg.
