Lindsborg, Kan. – After a disappointing overtime loss on Tuesday evening at home, the McPherson College women's basketball bounced back with an important road win against their intra-county rival Bethany College, 60-50.

This season, the Bulldogs have generally played strong for two out of the four quarters, and poorly in the other two. Against the Swedes on Saturday, the Bulldogs were strong in three of the four periods played, quarters one, three, and four.

After the first ten minutes of action, the Bulldogs led the Swedes 16-13, but Bethany came on strong in the second quarter, out-scoring the Bulldogs 14-8 to take the lead heading into the halftime intermission 27-24.

The second half belonged to the Bulldogs. They won the third quarter 13-10 tying the game at 37 all. In the final 10 minutes of action, the Bulldogs pulled away, out-scoring the Swedes 23-13, securing a 10 point victory.

Key Statistic

The key for the Bulldogs was taking care of the ball. The Bulldogs turned the ball over 11 times while the Swedes coughed it up 20 times. The Bulldogs turned the Swedes' miscues into 21 points, while the home team scored just one bucket off of turnovers from the Bulldogs.

Brittany Roberts started a new double double streak scoring 13 points and grabbing 17 rebounds.

MC won the turnover battle 11-20, but were out-rebounded by the Swedes 49-47

Coach Quote

"We showed some toughness tonight and that was the key to the game. It's always a slug fest as Bethany's coach Ferguson does an outstanding job. Very much of a team effort, Brittany played well as the norm, but it was Dy'mond, TiJanae', Maison, Ja'Kia, and Kyrstin who filled in the scoring. Good minutes by Tatum, Victoria, Madelyn, and Lala. Total team effort!." – Coach Nichols

Next Up
