Box Score Sterling, Kan. – The McPherson College men's basketball team, let one get away from them on Wednesday night, falling on the road to the Sterling College Warriors 71-70.
The Bulldogs led the Warriors for about 38 of the 40 minutes played on Wednesday evening. They led by as many as 12 points in the opening half before settling for a seven point halftime lead 41-34.
On a couple of occasions, the Bulldogs had the lead up to eight or nine points, but they couldn't put the home team away. The Warriors kept hanging around and eventually, they found themselves tied with the Bulldogs at 70-70, and holding the ball for a last shot.
As the clock wound its way to zeros, the Warriors JaMiah Haynes was fouled going for a shot with less than a second remaining on the clock. He made the first to give the Warriors the lead, then missed the second attempt on purpose. The Bulldogs rebounded and called timeout with 0.4 seconds on the clock. They heaved the ball down court, but were unable to get a clean shot off and the Warriors escaped with a 1 point victory.

Scoring was the issue for the Bulldogs against the Warriors. They were to 13 points below their average, and besides Kemryn Jenkins (Sr. Eminence, Ky) who scored 28 points, the Bulldogs had just two other players reach the double digit mark in scoring.

On the glass, the Warriors had the advantage 44 to 40.
The Bulldogs won the turnover battle by a slim 8 to 10 margin.
