McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College women's basketball season came to an end on Thursday night with a loss at home in the Quarterfinals of the KCAC Tournament, 74-73, to the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes.

The game was dead even through three quarters of play. At halftime the Bulldogs held a slim three point lead, 32-29. The Coyotes won the third period 23-20, tying the game at 52 heading into the final 10 minutes of action.

The turning point of the game was the first two minutes of the fourth quarter. The Coyotes went on a 7-0 run to start the period, and the Bulldogs had to play catch-up the rest of the way. The Bulldogs got it back to within two points with 7 seconds remaining but were forced to foul on the Coyotes' inbounds play.

The Coyotes hit a pair of shaky free throws to go up by four with just under 3 seconds to play. A last second three pointer off the glass by Erika Diaz made the score look closer than it actually was.

Coach Quote

"What a game! I would rather reflect on an incredible season the just one game. A season of COVID protocols, a season of injuries, a season that was one best in recent history, a season in which Brittany Roberts became the all-time leading scorer, rebounder, and named KCAC player of the year, a season that Maison Moseley stepped up big time and was named to the All KCAC honorable mention team, a season that saw KB, Erika, Tatum, Victoria, and Ja'Kia play their hearts out night in and night out, and a season that saw two seniors Kristen and Nicole give whatever they could to help this team. We are building something special, and with KU, Dy'mond, and Maya all coming back from injuries the sky is the limit in 2021-2022.
