Ottawa, Kan. – After winning games one and two against Ottawa University last Thursday, the McPherson College baseball team resumed the series on Monday, after rain washed out the weekend.

The Bulldogs struggled to get their offense going in the series finale, plating three runs on seven hits. Kyle Lux was only Bulldog to record multiple hits, going 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBI. Jake Pearson had the other big hit for the Bulldogs, a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Blake Maddock got the start on the bump for the Bulldogs. He worked the first two innings, but after an hour and a half rain and lightning delay, his day was done. He allowed one run on two hits. After the delay, the Bulldogs turned to Zach Reynolds out of the pen. He pitched two and a third innings giving up four runs, two of them earned, on four hits. Drake Miller pitched the final three and two-thirds innings giving up one run on two hits with five strikeouts.

It was the defense that let the Bulldogs down in game three. Only three of the Braves' six runs were earned thanks to four miscues by the Bulldog defense.

With the loss, the Bulldog are now 17-2 overall, and 7-2 in KCAC play. They will be back on the diamond again tomorrow when they host crosstown rival Central Christian College at Bulldog Park. The Bulldogs and Tigers will play a double header starting at 1:00 pm.
