McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College women's soccer team dropped a 7-1 decision on Wednesday evening to the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles, who were ranked #16 in the latest NAIA top 25 Coaches' Poll.

The Eagles just had too much fire power for the Bulldogs, who have been banged up quite a bit this spring. OKWU came out and got on the board quickly, scoring two goals back to back within the first six minutes of the game. They scored their first goal at the 1:43 mark and their second came at the 5:11 mark.

From there the Bulldogs settled down, and kept the Eagles off the scoreboard the rest of the half. The start of the second half closely resembled the first half. The Eagles score 40 seconds into the half, and then added a fourth goal nine minutes later.

Trailing 4-0, the Bulldogs got on the board when freshman Jasmyn Thompson-Harvey hit a shot from just inside the 18 yard box that floated over the outstretched arm of the Eagle goal keeper. Thompson-Harvey now as two goals in her career as a Bulldog, and they have come in back to back game.

The Bulldogs ran out of gas midway through the second half, and the Eagles capitalized. They added three more goals in the 68th, 74th, and 78th minutes to push the final tally to 7-1.

Christie Silber played 81 of the 90 minutes in goal. She faced 18 shots on goal by the Eagles, and turned away 11 of them. A couple of her saves were of the full layout spectacular variety. Freshman Lauren Kunda came off the bench to finish out the final nine minutes. She did not face a shot from the Eagles.

"I'm proud of how hard our team played tonight," said Coach Olson. "OKWU is as good as their national ranking. Congratulations to Jasmyn for scoring in each of her last two games."

The Bulldogs will wrap up their season on Sunday when they travel to Winfield, Kansas for a match-up with the Southwestern College Moundbuilders. Kick-off is slated for 2:30 pm.
