The Bulldogs were able to pull away from the Eagles after a back and fourth affair Saturday evening.
In the first quarter, Oklahoma Wesleyan jumped out to a 15-2 lead behind #11 Summer Kirkman's 5 points off the bench. By the end of the period, McPherson pulled it back to just a 4 point Eagle lead. At halftime, McPherson led 31-23. In the second half OKWU stormed back to retake the lead 41-40. Bulldogs continued to ramp up the defensive pressure and would outscore the Eagles 19-7 in the final 9 minutes of the game.Â
"Proud of our effort defensively! Anytime you hold a team under 50 that's a big time effort. Matti Moses showed some toughness inside for us. I thought the difference in the game was Dayjsha Fanning on the boards, we had to fight off a rough start to the game but credit Dymond McElrath's leadership for getting us back on track" - McPherson Head coach
