Bulldogs Fall at Tabor in Regular Season Finale

Hillsboro, Kan. – The McPherson College women's basketball team wrapped up the 2021-22 regular season with a loss on the road at Tabor College 67-59, bringing their overall record to 16-14 and 13-11 in the KCAC.

With the exception of one ten minute period, the Bulldog ladies played an exceptional game against the KCAC's regular season runner-up. It was a low scoring first quarter with the Bluejays up 13-10 at the first break. In the second quarter, Tabor found their offensive stride, while the Bulldogs struggled to make shots. Heading into the locker room at halftime, the Bulldogs found themselves down by 12, 36-24.

Out of the break, the Bulldogs began shooting the ball better, but Tabor still extended their lead to 57-42. In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs put more pressure on the Bluejays defensively forcing more turnovers and errant shots. That led to more made baskets on the other end as well. The Bulldogs won the final period 17-10 to cut into the lead, but unfortunately the hole they dug themselves the first 30 minutes of play was too much to climb out of.

Key Statistic

Three point shooting was a big factor. The Bluejays were 9 of 21 from beyond the arc, while the Bulldogs made just 3 of 12 attempts.

At the charity stripe they were at 57% making just 8 of 14 attempts.

Coaches Quote:

"30 good minutes tonight the 2nd quarter was the difference in the game. Tabor scored 23 points in that quarter. I thought we defended really well other than that. Brittany and TJ carried the load offensively. Post season starts now, it's the most exciting time of year."– Coach Nichols
