Bulldogs Take Down Central Christian for Seventh Straight Win

McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College baseball team extended their current win streak to seven games, defeating crosstown rival Central Christian College on Tuesday 11-4 out at Bulldog Park.

Playing their fourth game in as many days, the Bulldogs rested many of the usual suspects and deployed a completely different lineup than they have all year. The guys who saw action made the most of their opportunity, they scored 11 runs on eight hits led by Grant Asadoor who was 2 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Two of the eight Bulldog hits went for extra bases, doubles by Hunter Robinson and Kurt Golubski.

Nine different Bulldog pitchers went to the bump, each getting in one inning of work. Liam Spaw got the start and after him, the ball was handed to Broc Selstrom in the second, Justin Lockey in the third, Zach Reynolds in the fourth, Isaiah Vasquez in the fifth, Will Roman in the sixth, Darby Gilbert in the seventh, Jace Mapston in the eighth, and Kento Saiki in the ninth. Selstrom ended up being credited with the win.

The game was essentially over after the first inning. The Bulldogs put up seven runs in their half of the first, then added another run in the second. They added two more in the fourth then one in the eighth for a total of 11 runs. The Tigers scored once in the third then three in the seventh.

Coach MacKinnon commented on the win saying, "It was nice for us to test our depth today after a string of conference games. We got to get some reps for some of our guys to stay sharp for when they are called upon. The staff was really impressed with defense which was clean, as well as the pen's ability to put up zeros."

With the win, the Bulldogs are now 18-5 on the season. They return to conference play this weekend, hosting the University of St. Mary Spires at Bulldog Park on Saturday and Sunday. They will play a double header with the Spires on Saturday, then a single nine on Sunday to wrap up the series.
