McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College softball team extended their current winning streak to seven games, picking up two more wins on Tuesday at home over the Sterling College Warriors.

The Bulldogs opened the double header with a 17-0 win in game one, finishing off the Warriors in just five innings. The Bulldogs scored their 17 runs on 16 hits including two doubles, a triple, and a homerun. Nine different Bulldogs recorded a hit, and five players finished with multiple hits. Brandy Trengove and Mackenzie Egan led the way both going 3 for 4. Egan had the big hit for the Bulldogs, a grand slam in the fourth inning. She would finish with six RBI in the game.

The Bulldogs had two big innings offensively. They opened with five runs in the bottom of the first and then had 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth. Nine of the 11 runs scored in the fourth occurred with two outs in the inning.

Besides the offensive explosion, the other highlight in game one was the pitching performance from Raegan Kleppe. She started the game and pitched all five innings. She finished with a no-hitter, recording seven strikeouts and zero walks. She flirted with a perfect game, but two Warriors reached base, one hit by a pitch, the other on an error.

The Bulldogs kept things rolling in game two, winning the finale 5-1. The Warriors had their top pitcher in the circle, and she definitely made a difference. She held the Bulldog offense to five runs on eight hits. Sierra Cortez led the Bulldog offense with a 3 for 3 performance that included a double and a homerun. She finished with two runs scored and two more driven in. The other extra base hits were doubles by Amanda Ambrosy and Molly Booker, who also had a triple in game one, and another homerun by Egan.

Jordyn Johnson got the start in the circle in game two. She went seven innings surrendering one run on five hits with six strikeouts and three walks.

"Very proud of the team today," said Bulldog head coach Tony Segovia. "The weather was a big concern coming into the game today and they handled it very well. Always great to get two wins at home. We will get back to work and prepare for Saturday!"

The Bulldogs are now 20-15 overall, and 12-4 in the KCAC. With the wins, they find themselves sitting in third place in the conference standings. They will be back on the field this weekend, travelling to Leavenworth, Kansas for a doubleheader with the University of St. Mary Spires. First pitch is set for 1:00 pm on Saturday.
