York, Neb. – The McPherson College softball team split another doubleheader on Wednesday, on the road against the York College Panthers. The Bulldogs shutout the Panther 2-0 in game one, but came up a run short in the finale, falling 3-2.

Raegan Kleppe pitched a gem for the Bulldogs in the opener throwing seven innings of shutout work and scattering four hits. She finished with seven strikeouts, three of them in the bottom of the 7th to get out of a bases loaded, no outs jam, and two walks.

It was a struggle all day offensively for the Bulldogs, but in game one, they managed to score two runs on five hits, led by a 3 for 3 performance from Alex Garcia. The other two hits were a single by Sierra Cortez, and a triple by Amanda Ambrosy.

In the second game of the twin bill, the Bulldogs continued to struggle at the dish. They managed seven hits, but struggled to get key hits with runners on base and in scoring position. Garcia continued to swing a hot bat going 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Lacy Weaver joined her in the multi-hit club with a 2 for 4 performance of her own.

Jordyn Johnson was in the circle for the Bulldogs in game two. She went the distance allowing three runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and three walks in the loss.

"We struggled scoring runs today, which was the difference today," said Bulldog head coach Tony Segovia. "We pitched it well and defense was good."

He added, "We get to finish the regular season at home which is exciting. Saturday is Senior Day which is always a great day to honor these amazing student athletes."

The split leaves the Bulldogs at 22-17 overall, and 14-6 in the KCAC. They are scheduled to play a doubleheader against the Avila University Eagles on Saturday starting at 1:00 pm, weather permitting.
