WICHITA, Kan. — The McPherson College Bulldogs fell 65-58 in a hard-fought showdown against the Friends University Falcons Wednesday night (Jan. 11) in Wichita, Kan.

The Bulldogs started hot, jumping out to an 11-6 advantage early en route to a 15-11 edge after one.

A basket by Matisyn Moses, followed by a trey by Summer Kirkman to open the second quarter, helped expand the lead to 20-13.

The Bulldogs would lead by as many as ten late in the first half, thanks to another deep ball by Kirkman, but a late push by the Falcons trimmed the Bulldogs' edge to 30-25 at the break.

Friends quickly erased the lead in the second half before a 5-0 Bulldog burst that included a basket by Arriyonn Phillips and a three by McElrath briefly halted the momentum.

A 9-0 run gave the Falcons a 48-42 lead early in the final frame, but the Bulldogs responded with a run of their own to cut it to a one point deficit.

From there, the Falcons grabbed an eight point lead and never looked back.

Madelyn Hankins led the Bulldogs (6-10, 3-5 KCAC) in the scoring column with 16 points while adding five assists. Kirkman finished with 15 points and five assists.

Bridget Busbee scored 17 points for the Falcons (12-5, 8-3 KCAC), while Gracie Sammons added 14 points, and Taylor Jackson finished with 13 points.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday (Jan. 14) for a KCAC matchup against Kansas Wesleyan. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m.
