McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson College Bulldogs opened their KCAC schedule Wednesday (Nov. 15) with a 61-57 win over the Bethel College Threshers inside the Sport Center.
Collin Storr led all scorers with 16 points on 7-for-14 shooting, and grabbed ten rebounds for his third straight double-double. Antonio Watson scored 13 points off the bench, while Owen Braxmeyer added nine points and a team-high 11 rebounds, including four offensive boards.
The Bulldogs (5-0, 1-0 KCAC) were just 1-for-16 from three-point range, but forced Bethel into 24 turnovers thanks to 13 steals. Curtis Rose led the way with three takeaways.
Bethel came into the contest scoring 73.4 points per game, but were held to just 20 percent shooting form beyond the arc, and shot 51.7 percent (15-for-29) from the charity stripe.
Points came at a premium early on with Bethel leading 15-8 after seven minutes of play, before taking a 26-22 lead into the break.
The Bulldogs grabbed their first lead since it was 2-0, when Jamil Hardaway drilled MC's lone triple to take a 34-33 advantage and force a Bethel timeout. From there, the Bulldogs would never trail again.
MC will be back in action on Saturday (Nov. 15) when they travel to Wichita to take on Friends University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
