Men’s Basketball Bulldogs Top Waldorf

FOREST CITY, Iowa — Curtis Rose scored a team-high 27 points to fuel the McPherson College Bulldogs to a 90-77 victory Saturday (Nov. 25) over the Waldorf University Warriors in Forest City, Iowa.

The Bulldogs shot a season-best 52.4 percent (11-for-21) from the three-point line and 48.6 percent from the field, their best showing since the Mayor's Cup.

In addition to Rose's big day, Owen Braxmeyer scored a season-high 19 points, while Quinn Collins added 14 points and 10 rebounds and Collin Storr finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists.

The Warriors got on the board first with a jumper by Kaelon Harkema, but that would be their only lead as Rose answered with a triple followed by a basket by Braxmeyer. Then back-to-back threes by Rose, and one by Collins sparked an 11-0 burst to make it a 16-5 advantage less than five minutes into the game.

MC ballooned its lead to 32-13 with 11:25 left in the half before taking a 13-point edge into the break.

The Bulldogs led by double-digits most of the second half. Waldorf brought it within eight points with 5:34 to play but from there it was all Bulldogs.

MC will return to the Sport Center Wednesday night (Nov. 29) to take on Kansas Wesleyan. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
