McPHERSON, Kan. — Collin Storr scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Tuesday night (Nov. 7) to lead the McPherson College Bulldogs to a 79-65 win over crosstown rival Central Christian College inside the Sport Center to retain the Mayor's Cup for the second consecutive year.
The Bulldogs never trailed, holding Central Christian scoreless over the first 8:42 to grab an early 12-0 lead. The Tigers trimmed the lead a few minutes later to five, following a three by Jaedon Whitten, but a 10-2 spurt by the Bulldogs that included a triple by Jerome Mabry put them on top 26-13 with 6:25 left in the half.
MC closed the first half on a 9-2 burst to lead 43-26 at the break, then from there the closest the Tigers would come was 11 early in the second period.
The Bulldogs held Central Christian to just 31 percent shooting from the field, and a paltry 2-for-22 from beyond the arc.
Jamil Hardaway finished with 15 points for the Bulldogs (3-0) and pulled down eight rebounds, while Antonio Watson added 11 points and Seth Madron scored 10 points. Owen Braxmeyer grabbed nine rebounds and blocked two shots.
The Bulldogs hit the road Saturday (Nov. 11) to take on Manhattan Christian before returning to the Sport Center next Wednesday (Nov. 15) for their KCAC opener against Bethel College.
