Bulldogs Split with Friends at Home

McPHERSON, Kan. — Jordyn Johnson struck out eight batters and held the (RV) Friends University Falcons' potent offense to just one run Wednesday (Apr. 19) to power the McPherson College Bulldogs to a 2-1 win and salvage the doubleheader split at Bulldog Park. The win snaps a four-game losing streak.

Tatyana Alvarado led off the game with an infield single, then came around to score on an RBI single by Lacy Weaver. Carolyn Dallimore evened the score for the Falcons with a leadoff home run in the top of the fourth, but Johnson responded by striking out three to hold Friends to limit the damage.

That score would hold until the bottom of the sixth when Summer Garcia singled through the left side, driving home Mackenzie Egan who reached on a leadoff double.

Johnson finished it off, striking out one in the top of the seventh to secure the victory.

In the opener, the Falcons scored two in the first frame, three in each of the third and fourth innings, and two more in the sixth to come away with the 10-2 win.

Raegan Kleppe got the start in the circle for game one, striking out a season-high ten batters.

The Bulldogs hit the road Saturday (Apr. 22) as they travel to Winfield, Kan., to take on Southwestern College.
