Bulldogs Split with Bethany at Home

McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson College Bulldogs held on in game one before falling in the nightcap to split with the Bethany College Swedes Saturday (Apr. 1) at Bulldog Park.

The Bulldogs got on top early, loading the bases before Lauren Skinner scored on a fielder's choice by Mackenzie Egan. Then Alyvia Quintana drew a walk to make it a 2-0 lead after one inning.

Kassidy New made it a 3-0 edge with an RBI triple in the second, then Lacy Weaver singled up the middle to bring New home.

The Bulldogs were on the verge of the run-rule in the fifth after an RBI single by Tatyana Alvarado brought in a pair of runs to make it 7-0, but left a pair of runners on base in the fifth.

The Swedes caught fire in the sixth, scoring four runs, and made things interesting in the seventh, adding one more before Raegan Kleppe struck out Leah Rivera to end the game. Kleppe finished with four strikeouts.

In the nightcap, the Bulldogs managed just one hit, which came on a solo home run by Alexandrea Garcia in the bottom of the sixth.

The Swedes scored two in the third, one in the fourth, and one more in the sixth.

Jordyn Johnson got the call in the circle for game two, throwing seven innings with six strikeouts and allowing just five hits.

The Bulldogs remain at home this week, taking on the Bethel College Threshers at Bulldog Park on Wednesday (Apr. 5). First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
