PARKVILLE, Mo. — The McPherson College Bulldogs picked up their first win of the 2023 season, knocking off the Saint Ambrose University Fighting Bees 3-0 in Parkville, Mo.
After a hard-fought opening set win 25-21, the Bulldogs rattled off ten consecutive points to take the second set 25-11.
The Bulldogs maintained that momentum into the final game, scoring ten of the first 14 points behind kills by Zoe Fernandez, Hadley Waldren, and Bridget McHugh.
St. Ambrose capitalized on several Bulldog mistakes to storm back and knot the game at 14-14. The Fighting Bees proved to be a tough out, grabbing a 19-18 after a kill by Alex Horne.
Back-to-back kills by Fernandez and Waldren put the Bulldogs on top 22-20, then Fernandez closed out the win with her tenth kill of the match.
Petra Fernandez finished with seven kills, while Katelyn Moore had six kills. Cynarah led the Bulldogs with 18 assists to go along with five kills on seven attempts, and 14 digs. Moriah Delgado had a team-high 15 digs. Kenzie Cooper paced the squad with four aces.
The Bulldogs are back in action in Parkville, Mo., tomorrow morning (Aug. 26) to take on Morningside University at 10 a.m. The team will then take on sixth-ranked Park University at 4 p.m.
