Volleyball Bulldogs Sweep the Weekend at Bellevue Tournament

McPHERSON, Kan. — For the first time this season, the McPherson College Bulldogs are riding a three-game winning streak after going 3-0 this weekend at the Bellevue Tournament in Omaha, Neb.

"It was a great weekend and I couldn't be happier with the growth that I'm seeing," head coach Cory Cahill said. "We are starting to gel and get some rhythm, but beyond that we are such a close knit team. It's a blast for these girls to see success because they genuinely want the best for everyone around them. Couldn't be more excited getting started at home this week!"

The Bulldogs got off to a hot start, winning the first set 25-15, but found themselves in an 11-5 hole early in the second game. But the Bulldogs responded with nine straight points, including kills by Bridget McHugh and Becca Steffen along with a slew of attacking errors by the Blue Raiders.

LWC answered by scoring the next five points to regain the lead 16-14. From there, it was back-and-forth until a kill by Hadley Waldren gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead with a 28-26 set win.

The Blue Raiders jumped out to a commanding lead in the third set before, winning 25-17. This would prove to be the only set the Bulldogs lost all weekend.

In the fourth set, it was the Bulldogs who took control early, leading 16-9 before Petra Fernandez gave the Bulldogs the match win.

Petra Fernandez finished with a team-high 12 kills to go along with 12 digs. Zoe Fernandez added eight kills, while Steffen had seven kills. Cynarah Rodriguez led the Bulldogs (5-2) with 19 assists and added four kills, while Raegan Murphy finished with 14 assists. Defensively, Katelyn Moore paced MC with 16 digs, while Moriah Delgado had 12 digs.
