OMAHA, Neb. — After a strong first half effort, the Bulldogs were unable to hold off the Peru State College Bobcats in the second half as they fell to 0-2 on the season on Friday (Nov. 1).
Defense led the charge for the Bulldogs in the first half, holding the Bobcats to just 35% from the field and 28% from behind the three point line while forcing Peru State into 16 turnovers. The Bulldogs offense also showed out in the 2nd quarter, shooting 43% from the field to take a 26-25 lead into the halftime break.
Things began to unravel for MC in the third quarter as the Bobcats came to life offensively, shooting 53% from the field in the quarter while the Bulldogs turned the ball over seven times as Peru State stormed out in front. McPherson attempted to make moves in the fourth, but they failed to overcome the deficit and dropped the contest, 67-60.
Laura Guillamat-Ribo shined for the second consecutive game, dropping a game high 15 points on 6-7 shooting while also recording four assists.
Gillian Rodgers also had an efficient showing, scoring 12 points and securing four rebounds.
The Bulldogs are back in McPherson for their next matchup on November 5 as they face off against their cross town foe, the Central Christian College Tigers as they add another chapter in the McPherson Collegiate Cup. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
