LEAVENWORTH, Kan. — After being down in the first half, The Bulldogs were able to score late in the second half to secure a 2-2 tie with the University of Saint Mary Spires on Saturday night (Nov. 2).
The Bulldogs were able to strike first early in the contest as
Zane Sullivan found the back of the net in the game's 5th minute. Saint Mary responded in the biggest way possible, raising the single goal by MC with a pair of their own as Gustavo Freitas scored a goal in the 18th minute to tie the game followed by a Romario Harding goal in the 32nd minute to give the Spires a 2-1 lead at the half.
The defense ruled the entire second half as neither team could find the back of the net despite their best efforts. The drought was finally ended in the 88th minute when
Nathan Van Wyck knocked in a chip shot goal to draw the two sides even. The scoreboard remained unchanged when it reached all zeros and both teams settled for the tie.
The Bulldogs just missed out on a bid to the KCAC tournament, finishing their season 9th in the standings at 6-10-2.
