Baseball Bulldogs Swept at Tabor

HILLSBORO, Kan. — It was a tough weekend for the McPherson College Bulldogs, dropping three games to the Tabor College Bluejays in Hillsboro, Kan.

GAME ONE – TC 17, MC 6

Tabor jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after four innings before an RBI double by Hayden Foster put the Bulldogs on the board in the top of the fifth. A three-run blast by Dawson Walters trimmed the deficit to 6-4, but the Bluejays pushed their lead to 10-4 in the next half inning.

Peyton Starr once again cut into the Bluejays lead with a two-run shot in the sixth, but from there, all the scoring came from Tabor adding one run in the sixth, four in the seventh, and two more in the eighth.

Noah Thomas got the start on the mound for the Bulldogs and threw three innings with six strikeouts.

GAME TWO – TC 29, MC 5

A pair of home runs in the bottom of the first inning for the Bluejays put them on top 4-0 early in the nightcap on Saturday.

MC scored one run in the next half inning, but from there the Bluejay offense exploded for 25 runs, including ten in the bottom of the sixth.

GAME THREE – TC 24, MC 9

The Bluejays continued the trend on Sunday, jumping out to a big lead after the first two inning once again. A sacrifice fly by Jace Essig put the Bulldogs on the board in the third inning, but the Bluejays added four in the bottom half of the inning to lead 11-1.

A three-run inning by the Bulldogs pulled them within 11-4 after the fourth, but again Tabor had an answer, adding a pair to their total.

Tabor added three more in the fifth, and eight in the sixth to come away with the victory.

The Bulldogs return to Bulldog Park Saturday (Mar. 2) to open a three-game series against Saint Mary. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for noon.
