SALINA, Kan. — Despite going down 2-0 in the 76th minute, the Bulldogs stormed back and secured a 2-2 tie with Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday night (Sep 25).
After neither team was able to crack into the scoreboard in the first half, the Coyotes came out aggressive in the second half and put the first goal of the game up in the 66th minute off a penalty kick. Just 10 minutes later, in the 76
th minute, KWU's Seth Flores made it a 2-0 lead. With a three-game win streak hanging in the balance, the Bulldogs refused to go down without a fight.
Nathan Van Wyck, the defending KCAC offensive player of the week, finally got MC on the board after a penalty kick in the 78th minute.
A game of keep-away ensued as KWU desperately tried to keep the now hyper-aggressive Bulldogs at bay. McPherson refused to be denied as with just 13 seconds left,
Joao Rocha knocked in the goal to secure the 2-2 tie. Keito Takehara Jr, fresh off winning KCAC defensive player of the week, put in another strong showing with four clutch saves to keep the Bulldogs in the mix.
McPherson returns home for a big one as they play host to No. 4 Oklahoma Wesleyan. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
