McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson College avenged an early season loss to Tabor College in dominant fashion, routing the Bluejays 99-60 Wednesday night inside Holman Fieldhouse.
The 39-point win is the Bulldogs largest margin of victory since Nov. 16, 2022 when they took down Avila 92-46.
Aaron Williams led the Bulldogs in scoring, finishing with 23 points thanks to a near perfect 10-for-11 shooting from the field. Dallas Metzger added a career-high 21 points and eight rebounds, while Antonio Watson finished with 17 points. Charles Snyder rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points.
Tarrance Austin was excellent for the Bulldogs, recording a career-high nine assists, while Ty Schroeder, making his second career start, pulled down a career-best 11 rebounds.
Tabor kept things close for the first ten minutes, but 26-3 explosion by the Bulldogs put them on top 45-18 with just under three minutes to play in the half. MC would take a 49-23 lead into the break.
That momentum carried over into the second frame as the Bulldogs continued to add to their already huge lead, pushing it to as many as 42 late in the half.
The Bulldogs finished with 17 assists, which was one off of their season-best. MC also scored 46 points in the paint, and had 68 of their 99 points come from their bench.
Tabor shot just 31.4 percent from the field, and were 6-for-30 from beyond the arc. The Bluejays were led by Kalep Crane who finished with 16 points. Zach Hiebert added 14 points.
MC outrebounded the Bluejays 57-30 with a 15-6 advantage on the offensive end. The Bulldogs shot 47.6 percent from the field, despite finishing 8-for-30 from beyond the arc.
The Bulldogs hit the road for their next two games, traveling to Ottawa on Saturday (Feb. 1) before a trip to Bethany on Wednesday (Feb. 5). MC will be back at Holman Fieldhouse on Feb. 8 when they host Saint Mary.
