McPherson, Kan. – McPherson College Women's Basketball was back at home on Wednesday night for the final non-conference matchup in the early stages of their 2025 campaign. Starting out the year with a 5-0 record, the Bulldogs sought after a perfect start over non-conference opponents, while Baker aimed to secure their first win of the season.

The Basics
Location: Holman Fieldhouse
Score: MC 46, BU 59
Records: MC 5-1 (KCAC 0-0), BU 1-4 (HAAC 0-0)

How it Happened
Both teams struggled to find their rhythm early, with the only points through nearly three minutes coming from the free-throw line. Baker's Kennedy Bryan broke the drought, draining a three-pointer to put the Wildcats ahead 5-1. McPherson continued to battle offensively for most of the opening frame, shooting just 5 for 16 from the field and 0 for 4 from beyond the arc. However, a late surge that included six points in the final minute gave the Bulldogs an 11-10 edge heading into the second quarter.

Olivia Bell gave McPherson the lead twice early in the second, but Baker had an answer each time, keeping things even midway through the quarter. The Bulldogs briefly built a four-point lead, before the Wildcats responded with a decisive 14-1 run to close the half, sending McPherson to the locker room trailing 30-21.

The Bulldogs couldn't make up much ground early in the third quarter, as Baker seemed to have an answer for every McPherson basket. The Wildcats found themselves in foul trouble midway through the period, putting McPherson in the bonus with over five minutes remaining. McPherson managed to cut the Wildcats lead to four with under three minutes left after Mikah Hammerquist found the Bulldogs' first triple of the night, quickly followed with a Carlasia Moore layup. McPherson outscored Baker 14-9 in the quarter but still trailed 39-35 heading into the final frame.

Isabella Rosa opened the fourth-quarter scoring just before the eight-minute mark, cutting the gap to two, but Baker's Skye Pepp responded with a three to push the advantage back to five. From there the Wildcats maintained control, and despite McPherson's efforts to rally, the Bulldogs fell 59-46 for their first loss of the season.
