Women’s Basketball Drops Final Home Game of Season to Friends

McPHERSON, Kan. — The Bulldogs completed the home portion of their 2024-25 schedule on Saturday (Feb. 19) as they fell to the Friends University Falcons, 73-63.

Coming into the contest in position to host an opening round game in the upcoming KCAC tournament, the Falcons started the contest by showing just why they're in that position. Friends shot 66% from the field in the first quarter and flexed their muscles on defense as MC shot just 31% from the field in the opening frame. Facing the deficit, the Bulldogs stepped up to challenge and returned the fight to Friends. A strong defensive effort from MC and a pair of three pointers not only cut down the Falcon lead but gave the Bulldogs a 34-32 lead heading into the halftime break.

The Falcons were quick to remind everyone why they're one of the KCAC's top teams as they shot a stout 50% from the field in the third quarter and 60% in the fourth and final quarter of play to retake and grow the lead. The Bulldogs were not able to keep pace as the Friends defense shut down the offense of MC and secured a double digit victory.
Hannah Cooley led the Bulldogs in scoring with 11 points while Laura Guillamat-Ribo and Carly Pomrenke both chipped in strong efforts in their final games inside Holman Fieldhouse as the pair of seniors scored nine points.

The Bulldogs hit the road for the first of their final two games of the season as they take on the Sterling College Warriors on Wednesday, February 19. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
