BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — The 2024-25 season came to a close on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 22) as the Bulldogs dropped their season finale to the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles, 75-58.
It was a tightly contested first quarter of play with the major difference being Oklahoma Wesleyan's ability to take and make the three point shot as the trio of three pointers by the Eagles gave them a 16-11 lead at the quarter's end. The three point barrage from the Eagles as they hit four more threes and hit 53% of their shots in the quarter to make it a 42-32 deficit for MC at halftime.
The Bulldogs put in a strong effort in the third quarter to slow down the OKWU offensive attack, but an ice cold 30% shooting effort in the fourth quarter and three more three pointers by the Eagles sealed the fate of the Bulldogs as the Eagles held on and secured the victory.
Amarion Tease led the scoring for the Bulldogs, dropping 15 points while also pulling down five rebounds.
Lauren Young also put in a strong day with 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Bulldogs end coach
Josh Nichols' seventh season at the helm outside the top eight in the KCAC standings and therefore will not be advancing to the KCAC Championship tournament. The Bulldogs showed improvement down the stretch as they hanged tough against both Friends and Kansas Wesleyan, a pair of the KCAC's top teams, when they played them at home. The Bulldogs also came close to collecting nearly collected conference road wins against Southwestern and Ottawa, losing the pair of games by a combined eight points.
