McPHERSON, Kan. — In their final non-conference matchup of the 2025 season, the Bulldogs were unable to secure a comeback victory over the Evangels of Mid-America Christian on Tuesday (Apr.15).
It was the Evangels who struck first early on as an RBI double and a fielder's choice gave MACU a 2-0 lead after their half of the first inning of play.
Dawson Walters responded to the Evangels by bringing home
Peyton Starr via an RBI double to make it a 2-1 game. The high powered offense of MACU continued to roll in the third and fourth innings as three more runs came across to push the lead out to 5-1 heading into the middle innings.
The four run deficit was quickly erased in the bottom half of the fourth as a two run homerun by
Colin Evers followed up by a
Colt Sussex-Uphold RBI single and a fielding error by the Evangels tied the game up at five runs each. MACU's offense just kept rolling in the middle innings as they pushed across five more runs between the sixth and seventh innings, creating another gap heading down the stretch.
The Bulldogs attempted to push back in the late innings, including two more homeruns hit by
Marcus Patton and Starr in the ninth inning, but the Evangels just kept scoring runs and secured a 15-11 victory.
The Bulldogs will kick off a three game series against Friends University with a doubleheader on Friday, April 18. First pitch of game one is set for 12:00 p.m.
