McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson College Bulldogs narrowly dropped game one 4-2 to the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles before falling 15-4 in the nightcap at Bulldog Park.
GAME ONE – Oklahoma Wesleyan 4, McPherson 2
Samantha Hollingsworth pitched an absolute gem for the Bulldogs in the opener despite a shaky start, holding the high-powered Eagles offense to just one run on three hits, while striking out a pair.
The Eagles put the first run on the board in the top of the third when Destiny Tune flew out to right field, bringing home Jessica Watson.
However, the Bulldogs knotted the score in the fifth thanks to a solo blast by Emily Peterson to centerfield. MC would take the lead in the sixth, loading the bases before Alexandrea Garcia was hit by a pitch to score Kaitlyn Sarsfield.
That lead was short-lived, however, as the Eagles scored three in the top of the seventh to take the lead. MC got a pair of singles in the bottom half of the inning from Savannah Robles and Alivia Lange but were unable to drive in the runs.
GAME TWO – Oklahoma Wesleyan 15, McPherson 4
The Eagles wasted no time putting runs on the board in the nightcap, as the first five batters all reached safely. OKWU put up six runs in the first then added five more in the third to take an 11-0 lead.
MC's offense finally came alive in the fourth when they loaded the bases setting up a two-RBI double by Megan Wright.
But the Eagles answered with four more in the next half inning to make it a 15-2 advantage.
Down to their final out, Lange launched a two-run homer to left-center to finish out her career with a bang.
The Bulldogs wrap up the 2025 season with a 12-26 record and an 8-18 mark in KCAC play in head coach Abby Bolton's third season at the helm.
