LINDSBORG, Kan. – The McPherson College men's tennis team recorded a 4-1 victory over No. 2 Bethel College Friday in the semifinals of the KCAC Tournament.
With this win, the Bulldogs will capture an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament in Mobile, Ala.
After trailing 1-0 heading into singles play,
Arthur Nardy got things going for the designated visitors with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over his opponent at the top spot.
Celien Botlan accounted for a win by posting a 6-0, 6-2 victory over his counterpart at the No. 2 position, giving the Bulldogs a 2-1 advantage.
Oscar Brouwer played a tightly contested first set, but registered a 7-0, 6-1 win at the No. 3 slot.
Jayson Wasserfuhr notched a 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 4, securing the spot in the KCAC Championship for McPherson College.
At the outset of the match, Nardy and
Simon Delgadillo combined for a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles. However, the Bulldogs were unable to earn the point as Bethany College posted wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow for the KCAC Championship slated for 9 a.m. The team will play No. 1 Ottawa at Bethany College.
