MOBILE, Ala. – The McPherson College women's tennis team lost a 4-0 decision to No. 9 Tennessee Wesleyan Tuesday in the first round of the NAIA National Championships. The loss snapped the team's 14-match winning streak.
In doubles action,
Pia Hinricher and
Laureen Van Drunen lost a 6-1 decision at the No. 3 slot.
Bella Ellerbee and
Taimi Nashiku dropped a 6-0 contest at the No. 2 position while
Alexandria Garcia and
Vanessa Hofer's match was unfinished at No. 1. The tandem trailed 5-2.
In singles play, Hofer lost a 6-1, 6-1 decision at the No. 2 spot. Third-seeded Nashiku fell by a 6-2, 6-1 count while Van Drunen lost a 6-2, 6-1 contest at No. 4.
Ellerbee dropped a 6-0, 6-3 contest at No. 6 singles.
The Bulldogs finish the season with a 21-8 record under interim head coach
Craig Holman, and a perfect 12-0 mark in KCAC play to secure their second consecutive KCAC regular season and tournament titles.
