JOPLIN, Mo. — The Bulldogs saw their 2025 campaign comes to an end as they dropped a win or go home matchup to the Friends University Falcons on Saturday (May 3), 8-1.
Friends got the scoring started in the first inning with an RBI single into center field to take a quick 1-0 lead. That run served as the only one scored until the fifth inning as pitching by both squads was stellar to start things off. The Bulldogs had chances to cash in during that timeframe as they left four potential runs on base, three of them being in scoring position.
The top of the fifth inning served as a massive gut punch as the Falcons pushed across four runs, three of which came off a long three run homerun to make it a 5-0 game and really put MC behind the eight ball in the middle innings.
Colin Evers was able to get MC on the board in the sixth inning as he brought in
Marcus Patton via a sacrifice fly, but two more runs in the seventh for Friends was the final blow as MC was unable to rally.
The Bulldogs wrap up year two under Chris Dawson with an overall record of 27-26. The up and down season was not without some really impressive showings as MC collected four wins against ranked opponents. The Bulldogs also flexed their offensive muscles plenty of times, scoring double digit runs in 15 times this year, including a massive 25 run outburst against Sterling on April 27.
