McPherson, Kan. – McPherson traveled to Davenport, Iowa, for the St. Ambrose Invitational and came away unbeaten. The Bulldogs rolled to two sweeps and battled through a five-set thriller, pushing their season record to 16-1.
Friday, September 12th
Score: McPherson 3, #12 Viterbo 0
McPherson opened the St. Ambrose Invitational with a statement win, sweeping No.12 Viterbo in straight sets. After an early 7-3 lead, McPherson weathered a Viterbo rally and battled point-for-point before edging out an opening set victory, 28-26. The Bulldogs controlled set two from the start, cruising to a 25-18 win before closing out the match with a 25-21 decision in the third set.
Brooke McHale and
Katie Warden led the way with 13 kills apiece.

In game two of the Invitational, the Bulldogs faced Governors State and earned another three-set sweep. McPherson stormed out to a 25-12 first-set win, but faced a tougher challenge in the second, taking control at 19-12 and finishing the set 25-15. The Bulldogs dominated the third set with another 25-12 victory to seal the match.
Logan Hamilton led the offense with 10 kills, while
Ellie Okikawa and
Tori Buss made an impact at the service line with four aces each.
Saturday, September 13th
Score: McPherson 3, Cumberland 2
The Bulldogs capped the St. Ambrose Invitational in dramatic fashion, outlasting Cumberland in five sets. After dropping the opening set 25-20, McPherson responded with a dominant 25-14 win. Cumberland regained control in the third, taking it 25-20, before the Bulldogs roared back with a 6-0 start in set four on the way to a 25-11 victory to force a fifth set. Trailing 7-3 in the final set, McPherson rallied to complete the comeback with a 15-11 win.
Katie Warden powered the Bulldog attack with a career-high 20 kills.

McPherson will travel to Olathe, Kansas to square off against MidAmerica Nazarene on Tuesday. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
