Bulldogs Extend Streak to Four With Midweek Matchups

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 McPherson, Kan – McPherson College hosted two matches this week against the Sterling College Warriors and the Bethany College Swedes. After a great start to conference play, the Bulldogs would face their toughest opponent thus far with their Wednesday afternoon matchup against the Swedes who put up a tremendous fight on the road.  
 
Monday March 31st: McPherson College 7, Sterling College 0
McPherson began their dominant day with a sweep of all doubles matches against the Warriors, outscoring them 18-3 and securing the doubles point.
 
The closest singles match of all six was on the #5 court. Rubem Bogomoltz and Balazs Temesvari would have a close second set, but Temesvari took both sets with a 7-5 tiebreaker in the second.
 
Ayden Johnson won every game in the #6 Singles match; Arthur Nardy nearly won every game in his match in the #1 Singles match, but ended up with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
 
Barrientos, Wyatt, and Wasserfuhr all won their sets by at least two games, allowing for McPherson to roll to a 7-0 victory at home to begin their week.
 
Wednesday April 1st, McPherson College 4, Bethany 3
The Swedes put up a tough test for the Bulldogs in their Wednesday matchup. Right away, Bethany set the tone after sweeping the doubles point with wins on each court over McPherson to take the 1-0 advantage.  
 
Three of the six singles matches on Wednesday required a third set decider. Nardy earned a point for McPherson with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the #1 Singles match. Wasserfuhr held his own in the #2 Singles match against Sebastian Stipanov. After heading into a full third set, Wasserfuhr managed the 6-4 victory.
 
Barrientos also had a longer match at #3 Singles, but took the 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Martin Priban.
 
With the Swedes taking the #4 and #5 Singles matches, the overall match was tied at 3-3 with the #6 Singles match posing at the decider. It was Texas Ranger Schmidt earning the 4-3 win for the Bulldogs in the third set with a 6-4 victory over Dylan Gwilt, lifting the Bulldogs to their fourth straight KCAC victory.
