Bulldogs Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

McPherson, Kan. – The Bulldogs were at home for another week of conference play, taking on the Sterling College Warriors and the Bethany College Swedes. While McPherson looked to stay perfect in KCAC action, Sterling aimed to pick up their first conference win. Meanwhile, Bethany entered the contest following a hard-fought loss to Friends earlier in the week.

Monday March 30th vs. Sterling College
McPherson opened the week with a dominant display, securing a 6-1 win over Sterling. The Bulldogs set the tone early by taking both doubles matches 6-3 and 6-0 to claim the opening point. A third doubles match wasn't played as the Warriors had just five competitors.

The momentum carried over into singles play where Taimi Nashiku picked up a win at the #2 spot with two scores of 6-1, while Bella Ellerbee followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #3.

Sterling grabbed their lone point at the #1 Singles where Vanessa Hofer fell after a 6-1 opening set score and a hard-fought 6-3 second set.

At #4 and #5 Singles, Laureen Van Drunen and Eva Lesteluhu made quick work of their matches, cruising to 6-0 sweeps to close out the day just as it started for McPherson.

Wednesday April 1st vs. Bethany College
The Bulldogs wasted no time taking control in their second match of the week, sweeping the doubles matches once again to jump out to a 1-0 lead over the Swedes.

Hofer got things rolling for McPherson in singles with a dominant performance at #1, cruising to back-to-back 6-0 wins. Nashiku and Ellerbee kept the momentum firmly on McPherson's side, adding victories at the #2 and #3 Singles.

Van Drunen highlighted the second wave of singles with a strong showing at #4, battling to 6-4 and 6-3 set wins.

Bethany found some late momentum in the final two singles matches. The Swedes forced a tiebreaker at the #5 Singles, taking the third set 10-5 to earn their first point. At #6, Bethany claimed the opening set, but Lesteluhu responded in the second to force another tiebreaker. The Swedes pulled out the 10-8 win to grab one more point, but McPherson would secure the 5-2 victory.
