McPherson, Kan. - McPherson Men's Soccer is looking to build on its success from last season under fourth-year head coach Kent Freund.
Freund led the Bulldogs to a 7-9-3 overall record and 5-5-3 KCAC record last season, along with a trip to the KCAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
The Bulldogs return forward
Nathan Van Wyck, who led the team with 34 points on 15 goals and four assists and earned Second Team All-KCAC honors last season. Van Wyck enters the season ranked fifth all-time at McPherson with 30 career goals and 69 career points.
The Bulldogs also return forwards
Zane Sullivan and
Elliot Powrie who each scored four goals last year, along with All-KCAC Honorable Mention selection
Abdul Nafiu Moro on defense.
"We're really excited about the season ahead," says Freund. "We have a great mix of experienced returners who have played meaningful minutes for us over the years and a talented recruiting class coming in. If we can build some chemistry and mesh as a group, I think we have a chance to do some special things this season."
McPherson opens the 2026 season on Thursday, August 20 at Baker University at 7:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs open the home portion of their schedule with a match on Saturday, August 29 when they host Mid-America Christian University (Okla.) at 7:30 p.m. KCAC play begins for the Bulldogs on Wednesday, September 16 at Tabor College at 7:30 p.m.
