Baldwin City, Kan. – The McPherson Bulldogs Men's Soccer team traveled to Baker University on Thursday night for their 2026 season opener. This is only the sixth meeting between the two teams, including last year's season opener, with the Wildcats leading the series 5-0.

How it Happened
The Wildcats got off to a fast start with Dylan Traudt scoring their first goal in the seventh minute of the match. Baker added to its lead in the 35
th minute when David Reid found the back of the net on a shot from outside the 18-yard box. McPherson's first shot attempt came from
Nathan Van Wyck in the 41
st minute.
The Bulldogs came out of halftime hot, with a shot from
Ronald Lozano in the 47
th minute just missing the goal and striking the post. Just two minutes later, however,
Elliot Powrie put McPherson on the board following a quick attack down the field. In the 61
st minute, the Wildcats added their third goal following a long ball into the box, with Ian Waindim finding the back of the net after a quick change of possession.
Eric Mendoza got a shot on goal in the 66
th minute, sending a low shot toward the bottom right corner, but a diving save by the Baker goalie would keep the score 3-1.

The Bulldogs will be back in action next Saturday, August 29 for their home opener against Mid-America Christian University. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Brubaker Family Stadium.
