McPherson, Kansas - The McPherson College Football team is heading into their home opener ranked 21^st nationally and coming off a win in their season opener last weekend. Saturday's matchup will also feature several special events in the newly named Brubaker Family Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The Bulldogs opened the 2026 season with a 48-7 win at Avila on Saturday, August 29. Despite a slow start offensively, McPherson racked up 592 yards of offense, including 440 passing yards and 152 rushing yards. Quarterback Ryan Markarian guided the offense with 352 yards and four touchdowns, completing 27 of 39 passes. Santiago Salas led the Bulldogs on the ground with 75 yards on 12 rushing attempts and a touchdown. Jalil Brown also added a rushing touchdown for McPherson. Kaden Millinder led the receivers with nine receptions for 120 yards and a score.

Defensively, the Bulldogs held the Eagles scoreless until the final five minutes of the game. Chase Thompson led McPherson with five solo tackles, one tackle for loss and one interception. Matthew Garcia Jr. also had an interception for the Bulldogs, while Jonavan Asuncion registered five tackles (two solo, three assisted) and one tackle for loss defensively.

Jack Finder had a standout performance on special teams, punting four times with all four punts landing inside the 20-yard line. His day was highlighted by a 74-yard punt from McPherson's 22-yard line that was downed at the Eagles' four-yard line.

The Bulldogs will face the Bethel College Threshers on Saturday, who are coming off a 48-14 loss to Southwestern College on Saturday. The Bulldogs have won the past two contests against the Threshers.

Between the first and second quarters, the McPherson Volleyball squad will receive championship rings for their 2025 KCAC championship. Halftime of Saturday's game will feature a special presentation honoring the Brubaker Family recognizing the renaming of McPherson Stadium.
