McPherson, Kansas – The McPherson Bulldogs Volleyball team opened up the McPherson College Invite with a win over Doane University. The Bulldogs have a busy weekend after the win tonight with two games on Friday and one more on Saturday, along with hosting eight other games over the weekend for the Invite.

How it Happened
McPherson came out hot, building a 10-4 lead in the first set and forcing a Doane timeout. The eighth point from the Bulldogs was a kill by
Enya Fierens, marking her 1,000
th point at McPherson College. An 8-2 run by the Bulldogs after the break brought the score to 18-6 before the Tigers would call another timeout. McPherson cruised to the set one victory, taking it 25-11. The second set was a slow start for the Bulldogs, going down 3-1 early, but five straight points would give McPherson the lead back, which they would keep for the remainder of the set. The Bulldogs went on to win set two 25-14. Set three started as a game of back-and-forth until McPherson would pull away once again, claiming a 25-14 win that ended with a kill from
Havana Olander.
Tori Buss led the Bulldogs offensively with nine kills, followed by
Enya Fierens and
Miriam Maino with six kills each.
Havana Olander and
Tabor Scanlon each had four aces for McPherson, while Scanlon also had a team-high 18 assists. Defensively,
Isabella Calle had eight digs while Fierens and
Lily Gray each had four blocks to lead the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs out-hit the Tigers .346 to -.049.
