McPherson, Kansas – The Bulldogs Volleyball team finished the weekend undefeated in the McPherson College Invite. The Bulldogs earned wins over Loyola University New Orleans and Stephens College on Friday and claimed a victory over Central Methodist University on Saturday. McPherson was the only team to go undefeated in the Invite.
Game One: McPherson College vs. Loyola University New Orleans

The Bulldogs didn't lose any momentum from Friday coming into their matches on Saturday, taking an early lead over the Wolfpack. McPherson took a 25-15 win in the first set, with
Miriam Maino finishing things off with back-to-back kills. Loyola kept things close to start the second set, but a 14-3 run by the Bulldogs helped them pull away for the 25-13 set two victory. The Wolfpack came out strong in the third set, taking a quick 6-1 lead and forcing a McPherson timeout. The Bulldogs wouldn't take the lead until they scored five straight points to make the score 16-15. Loyola would reclaim an 18-17 lead, but McPherson rallied for eight straight points to finish things off and win 25-18.
Tori Buss led the Bulldogs offensively with 10 kills while Maino and
Enya Fierens had nine each.
Tabor Scanlon had 20 assists in the match for McPherson. Defensively, Fierens had five blocks while
Isabella Calle recorded 12 digs. The Bulldogs had a hitting percentage of .326 while the Wolfpack hit .030.
Game Two: McPherson College vs. Stephens College
Score: MC 3, SC 0
Despite a later start than expected due to earlier games running late, the Bulldogs took control early against the Stars, claiming a 25-13 victory in set one. McPherson scored six straight points to end the set, including two kills each from Fierens and Maino. McPherson dominated set two and three, winning both sets 25-12 and earning their second win of the day to complete Friday's matches.
Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by Fierens with 10 kills, followed by
Lily Gray with nine and
Kaylee Stegora with eight. Scanlon racked up 23 assists in the match. Defensively, Calle had 11 digs while
Roxana Varela Parra picked up 10.
Game Three: McPherson College vs. Central Methodist University
Score: MC 3, CMU 1
The Bulldogs finished off the Invite with one match on Saturday against CMU. The Eagles came out with high energy, taking set one 25-17. CMU took that momentum into set two, taking an early lead, but the Bulldogs fought their way back with a couple good rallies to take the 25-20 win. Set three started the same with the Eagles taking a quick lead, but once again, McPherson was able to take control for another 25-20 win. The Bulldogs found their rhythm in set four, coming out on top 25-17.
Fierens led McPherson on offense once again with 13 kills, while Buss and
Havana Olander each had 11. Varela Parra recorded 29 assists for the Bulldogs while Scanlon was right behind with 27. Calle led the team again defensively with an impressive 31 digs.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, September 8, when they travel across town to take on Central Christian College. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
