Substance Abuse Education and Testing Statement of Confidentiality

It is McPherson College Athletics Department policy to maintain the confidentiality of all matters related to the Substance Abuse Program, including drug testing results and student-athlete playing status. All employees of McPherson College are expected to respect a student-athletes’ right to privacy, including media relations. It is essential that anything seen, heard, read, and/or otherwise obtained remain confidential by all parties involved. Furthermore, it is illegal for any personnel to gain (or attempt to gain) access to patient information, through any and all means, unless their job would require such access. The Athletic Director or Substance Abuse Program Committee Chair shall have authority to determine institutional personnel having a legitimate need-to-know access to specific information.

All McPherson College personnel are expected to adhere to this policy at all times. Any violation of the policy may incur disciplinary action at the discretion of the Director of Athletics and/or Provost.
