Coach Anderson is currently in his second year as the Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.  Coach Anderson is entering his 40th season of coaching, and came to McPherson College after spending the past three seasons as the offensive coordinator at Mississippi Delta Community College.  Coach Anderson is a coaching lifer who has experience coaching on both sides of the football as well as experience at nearly every level of collegiate football. He has also served as offensive coordinator at Kentucky State University, Indiana State University, and Pearl River Community College; has coached running backs at Duke University in the ACC, as well as linebackers at West Texas State, and outside linebackers at Southern Illinois University.

Anderson has dramatically improved moribund offenses on multiple occasions as well as being an impact recruiter.  He also served as a graduate assistant at Southern Cal and the University of Texas as well as coaching high school football; he has taught HPER classes at several colleges as well as mathematics at the high school level.  He coached former quarterbacks Rusty Smith, Mike Volarvich, and Julian Reese who have all played professionally; Volarvich (who worked with Coach Fiscus at Henderson State), Reese, and Jayson Martin have all had strong college or Arena League coaching careers.

Anderson earned his Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering degree from Georgia Tech in 1982 (with honors), where he had walked on and then began his career as first a student-assistant and then restricted earnings coach, and his M.Ed. degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas in 1989.

A widower, Coach Anderson is the proud parent of a daughter Laura Anderson Straka – a University of South Florida graduate, married and working as a registered nurse in Tulsa, OK – and a son Wyatt  - a former walk-on and student-assistant at Mississippi State who is now a graduate assistant working with quarterbacks and wide receivers at Arkansas Tech.
