Mark Olson

Mark Olson enters his eighth season as the McPherson College head women's soccer coach, taking over the program in 2017 after spending two seasons (2015-16) as the associate head coach.

Since taking over the program as head coach, Olson has continued to have players receive all-conference honors, academic awards, and player-of-the-week honors. 

Olson started his coaching career in 1995 as a coach for the Newton (Kan.) High School boys' soccer team. After three seasons at Newton High School, he moved on to coach in the Kansas City metro area for the KC Legends Soccer Club and then the Sporting Blue Valley Soccer Club, the original Sporting Kansas City MLS-affiliated organization, where he spent 15 years coaching. His roles and responsibilities included managing and developing multiple teams and players of all ages within the organization.   

Olson played men's soccer at both Allen County (Kan.) Community College and Bethel (Kan.) for three seasons (1993-95). He broke numerous scoring records and at one point was the all-time leading goal scorer at both Allen County Community College and Bethel College. He was named to the All-Region and All-KCAC teams during his playing career.

Olson earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Wichita State in 1998.

Mark and his wife, Kelly, have two children, Connor and Erin.
