Box Score McPherson, Kan. – Freshman Tiffany Rooker hammered a career-high 14 kills to lead McPherson College volleyball past Kansas Wesleyan University 25-20, 25-15 and 25-21. The win ends the McPherson College’s five match losing streak.
The win moved the Bulldogs to a 5-13 overall (4-6 KCAC), while the Coyotes remain winless on the season at 0-24 (0-10 KCAC).
Freshman Natalie Boss added seven kills, four digs and one block.
The Bulldogs hit .198 with 41 kills under the direction of setters Lindsey Linnebur and Kelli Watts. Linnebur led the team with 18 assists, while Watts chipped in 14 respectively.
Defensively the Bulldogs recorded 47 digs and 10 team blocks. Sophomore Brooke Wedel, who leads the team with 267 digs on the season, once again led McPherson with 14 digs.
After trading points for a majority of the first set, the Bulldogs, behind a kill from Natalie Boss and a block from Amy Neufeld extended their lead to three points late in set one, 20-17. The Bulldogs would finish out the set in dominating fashion with a 25-20 win.
McPherson dominated set two after jumping out to a quick 14-7 lead. The Coyotes could not recover dropping set two 25-15.
The Bulldogs stumbled at the start of set three, allowing the Coyotes to build a five-point lead, but ten straight service points from McPherson put them back on top 22-19. The Bulldogs would go on to defeat KWU 25-21 to take set three and the match.
McPherson returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 14, when they travel to Friends University to take on the Falcons. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
