Bulldogs drop regular season finale at Bethel

Box Score North Newton, Kan. – Despite a 10-kill, three block, .304 hitting percentage performance by sophomore Amy Neufeld, McPherson could not overcome the consistent Thresher attacking dropping the final regular season match to Bethel, 25-19, 25-18, 25-20.

Along with Neufeld, freshman Natalie Boss posted another strong performance. The Waterville, Kan. Native floored seven kills on 19 attempts, including four errors for a .158 hitting percentage. Sophomore libero Brook Wedel continued her strong play, posting 11 digs and one service ace.

The Bulldogs dropped set one, 19-25, after hitting .031 with only nine kills on 32 attempts. McPherson bettered their offensive attack in set two. The Bulldogs hit .200, but the Bethel defense again proved too strong.

The two set hole proved to be too much for McPherson as the Bulldogs dropped the third frame and the match 20-25.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 7-19 overall and 6-12 in KCAC play, while the Threshers improve to 16-14 overall and 13-5 in conference action.

The Bulldogs will open KCAC postseason play against the Southwestern College Moundbuilders Saturday, Nov. 7. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
