Men’s soccer drops home opener to Mid America Christian, 1-2

Box Score McPherson, Kan. – McPherson dropped their home opener to Mid America Christian, 1-2, on Wednesday night at McPherson Stadium.

Junior forward Brent Mulford continued his hot start to the 2009 season, scoring his third goal in four games. The goal came in the 71st minute when Mulford dribbled around two defenders to poke the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net.

Mid America forward, Garrett Dresel blasted a shot through the Bulldogs defense into the back of the net to open the scoring in the 31st minute. The Evangels netted their second goal in the 65th minute, when Willy Deleon ripped a deflection past the diving Blake Jett, giving MACU the 2-0 advantage.

The Bulldogs had several chances, but could not capitalize.

McPherson held the edge in shots, 11-2, but was unable to net a majority of those attempts.

Blake Jett suffered his first loss of the season. Jett played all 90 minutes in goal, recording zero saves.

McPherson resumes action on Saturday, Sept. 19 when they take on Oklahoma Baptist University. The game is set to begin at 8:00 p.m.
