Box Score McPherson, Kan.- The Lady Bulldogs took it to the very end last night losing in five close sets to Tabor College 25-23, 19-25, 16-25, 26-24, and 12-15. The loss takes the Bulldogs to 2-8 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Senior Kiley Loesch had 15 kills, eight errors, on 42 attempts to lead McPherson offensively. Freshman Natalie Boss finished with 12 kills, with five errors, on 33 attempts, respectively.
Defensively, Sophomore Amy Neufeld protected the net for the Bulldogs with five blocks, two block assists and only five errors, while sophomores Brooke Wedel and Savannah Sievers protected the back with a combined 30 digs.
“We played great tonight,” said McPherson head coach Susan Barton. “Tabor was picked as preseason #1 and we should have beaten them tonight. I definitely feel like we are the better team and yet we allowed them to win.”
“Our main focus needs to be on getting better each and every day. To have a purpose to every ball we touch every day in practice and continually strive to be our best. We have set goals for our team and I truly believe we will achieve them.”
“We had such a terrific crowd again tonight and I am so thankful for that and so are the girls. We all would like to thank those that come and support us, we really appreciate it.”
McPherson returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 23, when they travel the Lindsborg to take on Bethany College at 7:00 p.m.
