Salina, Kan. – The McPherson College volleyball team rebounded off its tough loss versus Friends University with a pair of sweeps against Kansas Wesleyan University and Central Christian College Saturday afternoon at the KWU Triangular.
McPherson won its opener against Kansas Wesleyan 25-22, 26-24, 25-22, before blasting through Central Christian 25-19, 25-11, 25-13. The victories improve McPherson to 18-12 overall and 9-7 in conference play.
Against Kansas Wesleyan, junior hitter Kory Hiebert (Goessel, Kan.) exploded for 17 kills, .378 hitting percentage and three block assists. Junior setting Brelynn Schloo (Salina, Kan.) recorded a double-double with 39 kills and 17 digs, while libero Brooke Wedel (Moundridge, Kan.) tallied a team-best 22 digs.
As a team, McPherson hit .187 and registered 6.0 team blocks.
The Bulldogs continued the hot play into the second match, as Hiebert again led the team with 11 kills and a .550 hit percentage. Wedel posted her second consecutive double figure dig match with 14.
McPherson returns to the court on Monday, Nov. 1 when they host Tabor College. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. inside the McPherson Sport Center.
